Gutte Eriksen 100 years
17.01.18 – 03.06.18
If Gutte Eriksen (1918-2008) had lived, she would have celebrated her 100th birthday in 2018. To mark the anniversary CLAY Museum of Ceramic Art highlights her artistic legacy as one of the pioneers in Danish ceramics history.
The exhibition presents works by Gutte Eriksen from CLAY’s collection. These are selected to enlighten her passion for and life with ceramics – a life where she continuously examined earthenware fired at high temperatures, classical forms and variations in powerful glazes.
Gutte Eriksen passed on her enthusiasm and passion for ceramics to the younger generations of ceramic artists who visited her workshop or studied at the Jutland Art Academy, when she was teaching. With selected works and words from former students and colleagues who have been inspired by Gutte Eriksen, we shed light on the impact she has had and still has on contemporary ceramics.
