Keramiske Veje 2018 – United and Apart

15 April – 30 September 2018

Within Danish studio pottery today Beate Andersen, Bente Hansen, Sten Lykke Madsen, Bodil Manz, Malene Müllertz og Gunhild Aaberg constitute the highly respected exhibition group Keramiske Veje. For 33 years they have joined forces in this dynamic community and have thus contributed to making Danish crafts and design acknowledged internationally.

When formin the group in 1985, they wished to create not only a special exhibition forum for ceramics, but alto a forum adequate for experiments. And, the experiments and the sublime craft have indeed been characteristic of all the artists in the group who have examined and cultured to perfection the material, their techniques, and the individual idiom for many years.

The title Keramiske Veje 2018 – united and apart signifies a unique team with room for differences of opinion and for diversity. From convincing jars, wafer-thin porcelain and oversized shells to architectural landmarks, organic grid constructions and imaginative mythical creatures. A group of individualists who with indomitable strength and curiosity continue to explore techniques and potentials for artistic expression of ceramic craft.

At the exhibition Jane Raumert, at former member of the group who passed away in 2016, will be honoured for her eminent contribution as a ceramic artist for more than 50 years with an exclusive selection of wonderful, fragile shells and sculptural objects of fiber-porcelain.
