Ten newly graduated ceramicists from the Glass and Ceramics programme at the Royal Danish Academy on Bornholm take over CLAY with works ranging from the recognisable and everyday to experimental and sculptural explorations of the possibilities of clay.

The exhibition brings the familiar and the exploratory together in a dynamic interplay. Objects rooted in everyday life stand alongside sculptural works in which the weight, form and surface of the material are given space to unfold in new directions.

Each of the ten students presents their own perspective on where ceramics can go from here. What the projects share is a strong awareness of material and an investigative approach to techniques and form.

The Bachelor Exhibition is an annual tradition at CLAY, offering visitors a current glimpse into the work of the next generation of craftspeople and ceramicists. The exhibited works reflect both a high level of craftsmanship and an experimental approach to materials, techniques and form.

Of this year’s 14 students on the Glass and Ceramics programme at the Royal Danish Academy on Bornholm, ten work with ceramics. Their graduation projects are presented at CLAY:
